There was a man in Rocket Summer heard of from word of mouth that she decided may be helpful in her hunt to eliminate her father's former followers. An assassin, it seemed, someone who didn't mind getting his hands dirty.

It would give samuel carter a break. She wouldn't have to rely on knox prescott. And, furthermore, Summer would have a form of protection for herself.

So, she sent information his way through some Rocket grunt. On a piece of paper, there had been a time, a place, and a request.

"A job. Name your price. Meet me here. Don't be late."

Summer sat inside her office, working on a few emails and working on some of the banking work she had gone over with Martín del Mar when she heard someone coming up the stairs. One of her attendants, escorting a man.

"Enter."

Contact with clients usually came to Zev by encrypted email or a visit to his bar, Howling at the Moon. Occasionally, Mars or Gavin would call his work phone — whatever number he was using at the time. It was rare for Zev to receive job information by hand-delivered note, but that is exactly what happened.[break][break]

Of course, he did his research before the appointment. On the surface, Prescott Industries seemed like any other liaison services company. However, Rocket's files indicated that Prescott Industries pursued several less-than-legal ventures, including money laundering and smuggling. Esteemed Merrick Prescott had brought his company to great heights on both fronts during his tenure as CEO.[break][break]

But Merrick was dead, and his daughter Summer had taken over. The young woman was well known for her extravagant lifestyle, often spotted at galas and parties hosted by Hoenn's wealthy few. Zev had no idea what her plans were for her inheritance, nor did he care to find out. All that mattered was that she could afford him.[break][break]

Dressed in his tailored black suit, he traveled to the location on the note and followed the attendant into Summer's office. He waited until the door closed behind him with a soft click before speaking.[break][break]

"Miss Prescott," Zev greeted her with a tilt of his head. "I'm not interested in polite small talk, so let's get to the point. You have a job for me?"

Summer was about to put on her polite smile she reserved for business. She had been told many times, when she was much younger, that her normal resting face and scowl would drive away business. Make offers turn for the worst.

However, Zev's hard and blunt statement took care of that opinion. She couldn't help but laugh, having to catch her breath after a moment as he computer snapped closed.

"Right to the point. I like that. Alright, then."

She opened a drawer to her side, pulling out a few files. In the folders, he'd find information on various businessmen, partners of the Prescott Industries former CEO, Merrick Prescott. There would be sleuths of information about their types of operations and what they had purchased from the Prescotts.

Crossing her hands in front of her and resting her elbows on the table, Summer leaned forward, her assistant leaving and shutting the heavy door behind them.

"Word travels that you're a hitman for hire. Correct me if I'm wrong. However, I have these individuals left that I need taken care of. My normal team is usually myself and a close friend of mine."

She hoped samuel carter was resting as she spoke.

"I've put him out on rest, and I need the help before these fools have a chance to develop any ideas on their own and strike."

"You're not wrong," Zev confirmed as he picked up the first folder. He rifled through the contents, picking out facts and phrases that jumped out at him. Names, for the most part. He would need time later to read each file thoroughly and commit the necessary information to memory.[break][break]

The fact that Summer herself carried out murders in the past caused Zev to raise an eyebrow at her, but he made no comment. Assassins came in all forms. Considering he had not heard or read any news about suspicious crimes committed against people connected to Prescott Industries, perhaps she was even good at killing. And if not her, then her associate.[break][break]

"Is there anything in particular I need to know about these targets? Anything that could be a conflict of interests or prove especially challenging?" he asked, returning the folder he held to the top of the pile.[break][break]

The real questions behind his words were: Are any of these people involved in Team Rocket? Would there be trouble with the underbosses or, Arceus forbid, the boss himself if these individuals were to suddenly die?

Summer shook her head.

"These people were nothing more than rich individuals in Rocket. Sure, a few investors may be lost, but business is business. They were not high in the ranks of Rocket or affiliated with Rocket at all."

She tilted her head to the side, a small smile on her face.

"What they are in the world are parasites and leeches. They are of no importance, and though I may be losing a few financial partners by eliminating them, they will be easily replaced. They're disgusting and deserve a place in hell to rot."

Summer leaned back in her chair, her leg crossed over the other as she crossed her arms over her chest.

"So, do we have a deal? Shall we begin planning?"

The fact that Summer was eager to finalize the deal spoke volumes to Zev. First, she was used to getting her way. Second, she didn't care about cost. Normally, clients would ask about his rates and some might even haggle them, but her impatience to begin meant she would pay any price.[break][break]

Fortunately, Zev was a consummate professional. He wouldn't take advantage of her bank accounts.[break][break]

Not by much, anyway.[break][break]

"Each of these will be 80,000 PD," he said matter-of-factly, gesturing to the pile of folders on her desk. "For each target, I require a deposit of half the total payment up front, with the rest of it paid once I deliver proof that I've killed them. And I change phone numbers regularly, so I'll contact you after neutralizing each target."[break][break]

Zev's voice was cold, as if they weren't discussing the lives of people but, instead, the exchange of goods. To him, of course, other people were goods — tools, things, resources. Not beating hearts, not beings with agency.[break][break]

"If you have no concerns with those terms, then yes, we have a deal, Miss Prescott, and we can begin planning."

80,000 PD was not a big issue for Summer. Sure, it was pricy. But, in her mind, it was worth the price. It was to save her business and protect who she cared about as well as herself. So, she nodded.

"It's a done deal then. Cash, I presume?"

She could assume that a man like Zev would prefer to get money in a way that couldn't be tracked. And, Summer being Summer, pulling large sums of money from her bank wasn't uncommon. Not to mention, she could explain it all to Martín del Mar and get a by in the system if she needed to.

It was perfect, really.

"That's fine. Come up with a code, so I know its you. A code only you and I will know. I have a burner that I use. I will give you that number. You may only contact that device," she said.

Summer smiled, clapping her hands in front of her in a pleased manner.

"Splendid. It's done. How do you go about your methods? I need to ensure clean up methods are in order, whether I need to cover them or you will."

"Cash," Zev confirmed, nodding. He had bank accounts set up everywhere, even overseas. Slowly depositing small amounts across all of them meant he could manage his funds without raising any suspicions — a standard practice for money laundering. After all, on paper, he was simply a small business owner.[break][break]

The code and the burner phone were all expected. Zev nodded again at Summer's instruction; they'd exchange the information at the end of the meeting to wrap up.[break][break]

He opened the briefcase he'd brought with him. The stack of folders on Summer's desk quickly disappeared into it. "First, I'll need time to read through the files, then if I'm missing any intel, I'll have to gather that myself. I'll reach out to you if I think you have easy access to something about them that will save me time."[break][break]

The briefcase closed with a soft click.[break][break]

"Depending on the where and how of the assassination, I may dispose of the body myself. But in case I can't, I'll let you know ahead of time if you need to send in a professional cleanup crew."

Summer nodded, making a note to withdrawal the proper amount to send to him by the end of today.

"You will receive your deposit before the end of today. One of my staff will hand deliver it to you. I will send a message letting you know when it is on the way."

Summer tilted her head to the side, raising her brows. He was a serious one, definitely not one to skirt around and play with pleasantries and thank yous. She didn't mind that at all. Perhaps all of her meetings would be shorter if people cut the small talk and got to the point.

"I believe that all the information that is necessary should be in the files. These people were important and well known individuals to my father. Their daily lives and work were known to a T by my father and therefore by me. Though, if you wish to do your own digging, you may do as you please."

She continued.

"I have a designated clean up crew you may use if you so choose. And, if he so allows, my partner's Pokemon could be used at your disposal."

Of course, samuel carter would have to be willing to hand over his Pokemon to consume the remains, like they did her father and other individuals.

In the span of their short conversation, Zev decided that he liked Summer Atreides. She cut right to the heart of matters and comported herself with the degree of professionalism he liked to see in his clients. He allowed himself to hope that the rest of their business together would go just as smoothly.[break][break]

"All of that sounds excellent, Miss Prescott," he replied, his face finally contorting into a facsimile of a smile, one that did not reach his eyes. "I believe that is all I need from you to begin."[break][break]

Her list of targets was not long, but it still might take a few weeks to eliminate even the first one. It all depended on the information in the manila folders and their current, ongoing schedules.[break][break]

"Do you have any final questions for me?"
